Barrow home

Introduction

Congratulations, Barrow, on a fantastic soapbox event in 2019 – you did it! You made 14,000 people very happy, many of whom travelled from further afield and who commented on the welcome they received and how the feel-good community spirit was very alive and kicking.

Now, with your help, we can make the 2020 event even bigger and better. Thank you also to all the teams who not only entered the races in 2019 but also the whole spirit of the day whilst raising some significant sums of money for charity. We are hoping and expecting to see most of you again in 2020. The continuing support of BAE Systems as our principal sponsor means we can maintain the entry costs from the 2019 rates.  We hope there will be many more team entries this year, building on Barrow’s reputation as a centre of engineering excellence.

This community event is once again brought to you by Barrow BID in conjunction with The Super Soapbox Challenge Company Limited, a professional organiser of soapbox races in the UK.

In 2020 we aim to raise more money for local charities and enjoy a day packed with even more fun in Barrow town centre for all the teams, supporters and spectators. ‘Fun’ and ‘Themed’ Soapboxes are especially encouraged since they are the most interesting to watch!

The races will be held on Sunday, May 24th, 2020 (the day before the bank holiday Monday so we can all recover!) from 10.00 am along Dalton Road, as you can see from this map.
